Expands area dedicated to PET and R-PET production to 70.000 sq.m

Infia invests in main production site

Based in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, Italy, Infia is the world’s leading producer of lightweight and heat-sealable plastic packaging for fresh fruit and vegetables. Today, Infia is making another important breakthrough towards innovation and growth, and is investing significantly in its main production site in Bertinoro (FC).

The company, set up more than 65 years ago, has just finalized the acquisition of the former “Glasspack” premises, adjacent to Infia’s production facilities. The company’s production site, INFIA 3, will double in size, expanding to more than 70,000 sq.m of covered area for the production of PET-based products. PET, or polyester, is the raw material used to produce cost-effective heat-sealable plastic packaging for fruit and vegetables. From Bertinoro, INFIA exports to more than 80 countries all over the world.

The group, with production facilities in Bertinoro and Valencia, Spain and commercial branches in the UK and Spain, has 420 employees globally and produces more than 3 billion units a year exclusively for packaging fruit and vegetables. Since 2004, Infia has been part of the LINPAC group, a UK-based fresh food packaging giant.

“This new and important investment is part of a renewed growth process in our plants, both in Italy and Spain. This process is aimed at increasing the production capacity and most importantly at accelerating innovation in our processes and products,” said Giuseppe Montaguti, President and CEO of the INFIA group, adding “I am sure that this investment will bring significant economic benefits to our area, especially as more than 80% of Infia’s production is export-oriented.”

Innovation has always been at the core of Infia’s success. Technology, efficiency, innovation, processes and products aimed at reducing environmental impact and waste, and customization have been at the heart of Infia’s contribution to the competitive development of the fruit and vegetable industry. These are the challenges that Infia has faced up to for over 65 years. Today, Infia’s product range is among the most modern, complete and diversified within its market sector.
