Honduras will import 60,000 kilos of onion

Hondurans will have to consume imported onions because the government were determined to import about 60,000 kilos of this vegetable.

Alden Rivera, the minister of economic development, took this decision to supply the domestic market and lower prices.

Rivera said that there were 17 containers on the way for January and 17 containers for February.

He didn't say who the importer or the country of origin of the cargo were.

Last week, producers stated that there had been a low in production because of a plague that affected onion crops in several sectors.
