Europe: Quality problems for Peruvian mangos

"There are no problems with the mango production in Peru. The season started earlier than usual, but that is due to the warm temperatures probably caused by El NiƱo," explains Claudio Gorini, sales manager for AL.MA., a leading company in the import and export of fresh, exotic and counterseasonal fruit operating in Italy.

"The only problem is due to the fact tat the produce has arrived in Europe quite ripe (see photo above). Despite this, the campaign is going on as normal and there is nothing indicating that it will end sooner than anticipated."

For what concerns mangos from Brazil, which are shipped via sea, Gorini talks about irrelevant quality problems due mostly to the bad storing of the quantities arrived in mid-December 2015. "Currently, both volumes and prices are normal."
