Empresa Cubana Exportadora y Comercializadora Agropecuaria (CATEC)

Cuba: Reproduction of in-vitro plants and more

The Empresa Cubana Exportadora y Comercializadora Agropecuaria (CATEC) is a Cuban company, founded in 1996, which provides technical assistance in agriculture and forestry with advanced technologies in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as for the export and marketing of technical services. Its flagship products are the Maradol papaya and propolis.

Some of the products exported by CATEC include soft propolis extracts (red and brown), Maradol papaya and tree seeds, organic fertilizers, organic substrates, in-vitro plants, biofertilizers, biopesticides and on-demand seed production, among others; all based on the premises of rural development and sustainable agriculture.

Thanks to its expertise in plant tissue cultivation, the CATEC is able to offer a package of services for the reproduction of in-vitro plants, which includes technical assistance, design of the necessary area and equipment, reproduction protocols and the sustainable use of inputs. Its technical assistance is characterised by working directly along with producers and technicians, for its comprehensiveness and for the successful transmission of knowledge.

Cuban agriculture shows leadership in the development of facilities for the production of biofertilizers and biopesticides, as well as other advanced technologies adapted to tropical conditions.

The company also markets bat guano, an excellent natural fertilizer for the production of organic crops, as well as tropical production houses, which are facilities that protect the plants from external factors. It also supplies tourist services and courses on agricultural and forestry sciences, among many others.
