First import fruit at China Xiamen Haicang Port

Recently, first batches of longan from Thailand have arrived at Haicang Port at the East coast of China. Some of the fruit will be forwarded to the Philippines.

Total import amounted to 25 tons of longans, with an estimated market value of 22,000 USD. According to statistics from the Haicang Inspection Bureau, in 2015, Haicang Port increases its import and export of fruit by 12%.

Costs of the construction of the Haicang import port were lower than of comparable ports in Hong Kong and Singapore. In addition, the city of Xiamen is constructing an additional freight centre that will boost over 40 international routes connecting to Europe, America, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Meanwhile, the Xiamen Haicang Inspection bureau insists on carrying out "optimal clearing procedures" through a renovation of the original service system.
