André Boon, Scherphuizen:

"Overlap between mango arrivals from Peru and Brazil"

Peru has been on the market with mangos for a number of weeks now. "The start was three to four weeks earlier compared to last season. This means the chance that the season will end earlier is higher," says André Boon of the firm Scherpenhuizen from Eindhozen, exclusive partner and distributor of the Frutas Organicos del Peru.

The importer calls the quality this year excellent. "At the moment the market is lower than last year, as the arrivals are still coinciding with the arrivals from Brazil. It is expected that the arrivals from Brazil will soon reduce," says André. Last January there was the unique situation that there were 40% less mangos shipped from Peru to Europe. That isn't the case this year.
