New air purifying technology to disinfect fresh products

Oxyion is a technology developed by the company of the same name which helps in the storage of fruits and vegetables during transport and in cooling chambers, preventing contamination and thereby improving the safety and shelf life of the products.

"Oxyion transforms the air from a source of pollution to a sanitation vehicle, generating bio-safe and innocuous environments," as pointed out by the company in its presentation at PMA Fruittrade. The technology replaces air contaminated by bacteria and fungi with clean air by removing impurities in the oxygen. This way, the products' ripening is delayed, dehydration is reduced and the growth of fungi, such as Penicillium or Botrytis, etc. is prevented, as well as the impact of pathogens such as Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes, consequently reducing the microbiological risks and, ultimately, ensuring the supply of a safer product to the consumer.

Oxyion helps meet the standards of hygiene and safety and has been approved by several research centres worldwide.

The company has offices in Chile, Peru, the United States and Spain.
