Agri producers, entrepreneurs from Guatemala and Nicaragua meet

According to the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (AGEXPORT), agricultural producers and businessmen from Guatemala and Nicaragua will meet in Managua on Friday and Saturday to promote access to their markets.

50 Nicaraguan cooperatives and associations of producers and 15 Guatemalan businessmen will be getting together at the Agro Central Rural Business Meeting in search of achieving trade in the short and medium term.

The president of the Agritrade platform of Agexport, Pablo Velasquez, said there were 90 business meetings scheduled between both countries during the activity. The Nicaraguans will offer broccoli, onion, turmeric powder, taro, palm, cassava, sesame, coffee, chia, beans, honey, cashew nuts, cocoa, moringa flour, ginger, coconut oil, plantain flour, bananas, sour orange marmalade, milk, shrimp, beef, and cattle among other products.

Velasquez said that the meeting aimed to boost rural business linkages to generate productive activities that contribute to the economic and social development of Central America through agricultural exports.

According to Agexport, El Salvador and Honduras held similar events this year. As part of this event, the I Coffee Cooperative Forum, in which 100 producers and entrepreneurs in the region will get to know about this grain’s added value, will take place in Managua. During the forum, producers will find out more about the importance and creation of agricultural value chains, they added.
