The Flower Sprouts are a cross between Brussels sprouts and kale. “The sweet nutty taste makes them very suitable for salads and side dishes,” explains the managing director. The vegetable is grown in the UK and in the Netherlands. "And we are currently testing the cultivation in Germany," continues van Vlorop. "Our production is oriented by the customer’s demand. And our producers receive a guaranteed price for their produce."

Some already have tried and tasted the Flower Sprouts at this year's Fruit Attraction in Madrid. "Just like the Brussels sprouts, they open up when it is time to harvest," explains Arnold van Vlorop. “However our Flower Sprouts have a milder and sweeter taste and twice as much vitamins compared to Brussels sprouts. That makes the Flower Sprouts an ideal winter vegetable.”
