Start of Zhanghou vegetable export season

On the 11th November, 1,689 boxes of fresh scallions produced by Zhangpu Fengshou Fruit and Vegetable Garden were successfully exported to Singapore. This launched the start of the export season.

Zhangpu, a village in Fujian Province, is one of the main export bases of fresh vegetables. From 2014 to 2015, fresh vegetable export mounted to 120,000 tons, an 18% compared to the same period a year before.

Among these exported products, fresh scallions is the speciality product with an export volume of more than 30,000 tons a year, valued at about 22,400,000 USD. This counts for 42% of China's total scallion export, just behind export from Shandong province.

Cauliflower from Zhangpu is also a popular vegetable in Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. It takes up 80% of the total import market in Malaysia.
