AU: 'FreshView' on ripening, degreening tech systems

Developed by Australian based technology company, Pacific Data Systems, the FreshView EC12 Ripening Controller system is the latest proven technology to monitor, control, ripen, degreen, and store fruit and other perishable commodities.

The modular industrial design of the FreshView EC12 Ripening Controller system ensures simple installation and allows for the measurement and control of multiple parameters across multiple ripening rooms. This provides greater flexibility when meeting the ever-expanding operational demands encountered by any small, medium or large fruit handling organisation.

Paul Gapes from Pacific Data Systems explains "The EC12 provides the industry with a safer method of monitoring and maintaining set ethylene, carbon dioxide, temperature, relative humidity, pulp temperature and oxygen levels in ripening rooms. These are all factors that can influence the ripening process and will ultimately lead to a higher standard of presentation, longer shelf life and a more uniformly ripened, tastier piece of fruit."

As well as being a fully automated system, a high priority during the design process was to ensure that the information provided to the client would be both easily understood and easily accessible. A simple touch-screen display provides the end-user with the ability to access current system status, historical data and/or set-point adjustment for single, or multiple, ripening rooms at any one time.

"The EC12 can also be switched instantaneously to show the information in a graphical format that allows the operator to clearly see what the individual parameter trends are within each ripening room," says Paul.

As well as being simple and intuitive to use, Paul says the FreshView EC12 Ripening Controller system has been imbued with features to ensure secure operations locally or remotely via the Internet.

“Multiple password entry restricts access to various functions of the EC12. In addition, the system records each and every time a change is made to operational parameters which ultimately provides traceability and drives accountability.” says Paul.

Using a smartphone, or desktop, laptop, or tablet PC, further monitoring and control is also available from anywhere in the world via a remote web portal (3G/4G/LAN access required). With a unique customer code, username and password login, the end user is provided ‘round-the-clock peace of mind for their valuable produce.
