ECO-TUNEL 2015: profitable, sustainable alternative for fruit drying

"The use of fruit drying equipment powered by gas or diesel entails a very high expenditure on fuel, as well as a high environmental impact, the risk of fire and excessive noise in the warehouse," explains Paco Camarena, of Pretecval.

For these reasons, among others, Pretecval has launched the Eco-Tunel 2015; pre-drying and drying equipment designed to replace those powered by fossil fuels. "We manage to save all expenditure on gas or diesel, with about the same, and sometimes even lower, power consumption," he points out.

Also, compared to other systems, "the Eco-Tunnel does not heat the fruit, thus preventing its deterioration, which is usually the result of overheating," affirms Paco Camarena.

According to Camarena, the equipment is especially intended for citrus, although the current goal is to start setting it up also in warehouses devoted to the handling of apples.

"The return on investment is really amazing and a comprehensive maintenance plan for the entire year is included," he assures.
