Live demonstration Wednesday, November 4

TreeSteamer© for healthier citrus trees

On November 4, 2015 there is a live demonstration of TreeSteamers© at the UF/IFAS Gulf Coast Research & Education Center in Balm Florida, after the Florida AgExpo programs are over at about 3 PM. Citrus scientists have arranged a steaming for greening in the Vernia section of the research grove where the trees are spaced at 10 foot apart and about 10 foot tall. The TreeSteamer© drop canopy model will be steaming two trees at a time.

Steaming is almost as easy as spraying and can be done by one tractor driver as shown in this YouTube video:

The fruits in steamed groves are much larger with a higher brix content of 4+ points and higher solids content. By making the existing trees healthy and growing again without big investments in chemicals, it gives the growers the financial opportunity to plant more new trees and even add more acreage to plant citrus.

TreeSteamers© by ScoringAg built for the commercial groves will help to return the profitability to the grove owners and help reverse the USDA citrus forecast for Florida of 80 million boxes for the next harvesting season. If all infected trees in Florida were to be steamed in the next 10 years, the prospected yield of 27 million boxes in ten years will be probably 5-10 times higher.
