“October is a really good time to meet with retailers about holiday and winter promotions,” says Cindy Plummer of the California Table Grape Commission. “About 40 percent of California table grape volume moves between October and December,” she adds. The show provides one location for the Commission’s domestic and international marketing staff to meet with retailers and importers to review late season promotions and promotional opportunities.
New variety chart and point-of-sale materials
During the show, the Commission will be highlighting its holiday and winter consumer campaign elements and retail promotion opportunities. “Driving more consumers into retail stores in the US and in our 26 export markets is our goal,” said Plummer. “We want to give retailers the chance to take advantage of the promotional opportunities for the late season.” To accompany the promotional opportunities and to provide for ongoing education of the produce department staff, the Commission will be presenting a new variety chart as well as other point-of-sale materials in its booth. “We will also be able to provide the latest information about shipments, crop size and timing,” mentioned Plummer.
Harvest continues into December
California table grape harvest is expected to continue into early December with fruit available into January. Come by the Grapes from California booth (#1647, within the California Grown Pavilion) and chat with Commission staff about the opportunities the coming months provide.
