SanLucar promotes their Opal apples with the new Heidi movies

Heidi will be the new face of the Opal apple campaign by SanLucar. 10 December is the day: The new movie with the popular fictional character Heidi will be in the cinemas. And her face will promote the new SanLucar Opal apple.



The Opal®, a cross between Golden Delicious and Topaz, has a unique flavor. Delicious, crunchy and harvested at the right moment of ripeness, its sweet taste develops after harvest. The SanLucar producers Ulrich Gössl and Markus Bentele know that too, since they mastered the cultivation of apples in harmony with nature.

Fruit, such as apples, are an important part of a child’s diet because they contain important vitamins and nutrients to help children grow and develop. But it is not always easy to motivate children to eat fruit. SanLucar found in Heidi the perfect match, to create a new healthy, fresh and fun approach.


New packaging
The Opal® apple is part of a premium brand for fruit and vegetables and is available in an innovative packaging on which Heidi will feature prominently. She won’t be just on the packaging but also on posters, stickers and leaflets in supermarkets.

One of the new packagings is a cardboard container for 4 Opal® apples. This type of packaging protects every individual piece of fruit and it is sustainable since the packaging consists mostly of cardboard and this minimizes the use of plastic.

A contest will be part of the campaign and customers in the supermarkets have a chance to win various prizes, for instance a trip to Switzerland, Heidi’s home, or 30 fan packets. 

Heidi won’t be just on the Opal® apples but she will also feature on the packaging of citrus fruit and raspberries of SanLucar. 

These products have been available in supermarkets since 19 October.
