Giuseppe Antionio Aloè, Frutadeli:

"With bananas, quality is the only way to stand out"

Banana producer and exporter Frutadeli was founded in Ecuador in 2001. The company exports around 100,000 boxes of bananas a week. "Part of it is our own production, about 12,000 boxes, and the rest of the volumes is supplied by the company associated growers," says Giuseppe Antonio Aloè, who represents the company. Frutadeli aims high: "Seeing how many bananas are of the same variety, quality is the only way to stand out in the banana market. That's why we focus on the best products."

Turkey main market
Frutadeli supplies five different brands: Frutadeli, Bananavey, Frutasveg, Golosita and Sherezada. Frutadeli's most important market is Turkey. "We also supply to markets like Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria, New Zealand, Japan, Uzbekistan, Russia and China. We're always looking for new markets, and also supply to European countries like Italy." Giuseppe Antonio emphasizes it's not always easy to supply enough bananas. "Due to the Sigatoka disease, we've had 40% less production in Ecuador this year, making it a very difficult season for many growers. Fortunately we were able to meet the demand ourselves, seeing how we receive produce from growers who have the right certificates. All our producers (strategic partners) are constantly assisted with new techniques, technology consulting, modern infrastructure, cultivation, packaging and transport."

Aloè concludes: "We have to deal with the present, and execute what we stand for now. Investing in relations with clients, staff and partners, both in terms of trade and regarding the environment. We believe it's important to work hard, do enough marketing and to deliver quality. Customers know our company, our brands, and our reputation is good. Our passion for fresh bananas, based on strict quality controls, is something we are happy to share."
