Horticola del Desierto celebrates 25th anniversary

Desert Farms LLC is proud to announce that their parent company Horticola del Desierto is celebrating their 25th anniversary on the 8th of November 2015.

Owner/Chairman Gonzalo Viveros Arévalo started his journey growing asparagus together with his late father Mr. Ezequiel Viveros Senior. Together with a group of
business owners, Mr. Viveros started as a pioneer growing asparagus in the Mexicali Area, later transferring into the Caborca Area in the 90’s.

Horticola currently owns around 1500 HA of green asparagus, and operates in two fully certified packing facilities in Caborca Sonora. In 2013 the company opened their own marketing company Desert Farms, assuring the best possible quality of product and the best possible communication with their customers.

During the season the company contracts over 4000 people and their true dedications of doing the right thing for their personnel is resulting in social responsibility rewards, child free labor certifications and food safety standards.

Mr. Gonzalo has had great support from his wife Alejandra Viveros Herrera, and the company is proud to announce that she has been chosen as the “Persona Distinguida 2015 Caborca Sonora” (Distinguished person) by the Rotary Committee of Caborca.

The event was attended by family and coworkers who appreciated the magnitude of recognition that was given to Alejandrina Viveros. Alejandrina who came to this land for over 35 years ago met her husband Gonzalo Viveros at Ezequiel Nurseries (one of the largest asparagus producing companies in the northwest of Mexico). And currently (together with Gonzalo Sr/Jr) is in charge of Horticola del Desierto.

Overall it has been a good year for Desert farms/ Horticola del Desierto and its employees.

Horticola Del Desierto/Desert Farms will be exhibiting at the PMA Atlanta 2015 (booth 2725).
