Australia: new visa agreement passed for Chinese workers

Last month, Australia has officially accepted the first round of Work and Holiday Visa Applications for Chinese applicants. 1,500 applicants were accepted. The visa arrangement is designed for people between 18 and 31 years old. The visa holder can stay in Australia for one year to work and study. Fruit picking in Australia's large orchards is a popular temporary job amongst immigrants. The new agreement could solve some of the problems Australia is facing with a shortage of low skilled workers. Workers get paid the minimum wage of 17 Australian dollars, around 80 RMB. Workers can earn up to 20 or 30 Australian dollars if they speak good English.
