Speeding up mechanical harvesting in Shandong

According to Xinhua News, Shangdong province has mechanised big parts of its harvesting this autumn. By September 30, 565,000 machines were put into use. Total harvest so far reached 586,000 hectares of corn (8,790,000 mu), 453,333 hectares of peanut fields (6,800,000 mu) and 38,000 hectares of potatoes (570,000 mu).

Shandong province is facing draughts. Rainfall this year has been 30% less than in earlier years, and water reserves has shrunk by almost 40%.
