Round two funding for Queensland water project

Round two grant funding now open for applications by Qld MDB irrigators
The second application round of financial assistance to irrigators located in Queensland Murray-Darling Basin is now open.

Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) Senior Research Development Officer Dr Simon White said the funding was available for eligible irrigators interested in participating in a project aimed to achieve a 10 per cent lift in their water productivity.

“$1 million in grant funding is being made available through the Murray-Darling Basin Regional Economic Development program (MDBREDP to irrigators to improve their measurement and management of water assets,” Dr White said.

“Irrigators who registered under the Expressions of Interest held last month will shortly be receiving a copy of the grant deed in order to apply for round two funding. Eligible irrigators have until 31 March 2016 (or sooner if all available funding has been allocated) to apply for up to $10 000 per business entity to help them adopt new water use efficiency technologies.”

Dr White said grant funding totalling $300 000 had been provided to irrigators through the first round of funding which closed 30th June 2015.

The Australian Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development has provided DAF with funding to run this project as part of the MDBREDP, with in-kind support from Queensland Government agencies.

The MDBREDP is designed to fund projects to stimulate economic activity in areas of the Qld Murray-Darling Basin that have been affected by water reductions under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
