Taiwan: Typhoon Dujuan destroys banana and sugarcane plantations

Typhoon Dujuan landed in Taiwan yesterday, causing serious agricultural loss near the cities of Guoxing and Zhongliao in Nantou county. 

A number of banana plantations have been damaged, with a total area estimated to amount to 220 hectares. Sugarcane plantations have also been hit. Both sectors are said to hope to receive support from the government to cover their losses.
