Fresh Del Monte sues over parallel fruit imports

Del Monte Pacific has interfered with Fresh Del Monte's exclusive right to sell branded products under the well-known label in several regions worldwide, violating two settlement agreements by not limiting parallel imports, according to a New York suit filed Tuesday.

Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. alleges Del Month Pacific Ltd. failed to use “commercially reasonable efforts” to stem the flow of its goods into unauthorized markets, threatening the plaintiff's sole right to sell Del Monte-branded products in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the former Soviet Union.
