UK grown Kwanza raspberries at Rodanto

UK producer and importer Rodanto has British grown Kwanza raspberries for the first time this season.

An associate company of Rodanto, Terra Agricola sl have been growing Kwanza in Spain for a number of years with the team at Green Valley Berries sl. The license for the berry in Spain is held by Terra Agricola.

The UK production is being directed by the team at Green Valley Berries who produce Kwanza in Spain from the end of September to the end of July.

"We're hoping in this first year and since it is a trial to produce somewhere in the region of 20,000 kgs," explains Edward Velasco from Rodanto. "Harvesting of this year’s plants has only recently commenced and we expect to continue to harvest while the temperatures and weather permits."

Velasco goes on to say, "Kwanza has proved in these past few years to have an excellent sweet flavour and large sized berries with a bright and attractive colour which really makes them stand out from the rest."

Demand for UK raspberries is high and Rodanto's production is meeting with very good interest.
