“Red Globe grapes are our most important export product. We mainly export from China to markets in Southeast Asia. Our annual export volume reached 1,000 tons in 2014, at an average price of 2 USD per kg”, according to Alice Su, the marketing manager of Xiamen Rainbow Fruits Co., Ltd.
“The Chinese Red Globe export season runs from July to October. This year the season has been particularly good. We purchase Red Globe grapes from Yunnan and Xinjiang provinces. These provinces are renowned for their grape production: quality is good and volumes are stable. This year's harvest is smaller than the year before. As a result prices have gone up”.
“Retailers are our main clients. We do not specialise in packaging, this is done by our clients. Our main export port is Shenzhen port near Hong Kong. In the past the port has invested in its cold chain logistics network. Today it is a modern port. I believe this to further improve in the future”
Besides Red Globe grapes and citrus Xiamen, Rainbow Fruits also exports various pear varieties, apples, oranges, grapes, melons and vegetables overseas with a total of 12,000-15,000 tons annually.
