In recent years, Huaning county in Yunnan province has made considerable investments in its citrus industry. There are 5,700 hectares (86,000 mu) of citrus trees and production has reached 156,000 ton. 90% of the total harvest is sold outside the county and part of the harvest is being exported. Since local authorities started to invest in the citrus production, more than 10,000 farmers have profited from the industry and increased their annual incomes.
