On the 22nd of September, Jialian Zhu, the deputy mayor of Laibin city, signed a five-year contract with Shaanxi Haisheng Fresh Fruit Juice Co., Ltd.. The city and the corporate group have come to an agreement to plant 200 hectares (3,000 mu) of tangerine for research purposes. Research will be done into seedling breeding technology, new citrus strains and virus-free breeding. In addition, fresh fruit sorting lines, cold chains and other processing equipment will be installed in the area afterwards. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the development of local economics.
Shaanxi Haisheng Fresh Fruit Juice is one of China's leading enterprises in agriculture processing. The company is also one of the world's biggest producers and exporters of apple juice concentrate. The company owns 40 modern agricultural planting bases in 11 provinces. Annual output value of the company is estimated to reach around 300 million USD.
