Xuzhou county veg export reaches 220 million USD

In the first 8 months of this year vegetable export production in Xuzhou county increased to 20,000 hectares (31,000 mu). Over the same period the industry has generated a total revenue of 220 million USD. The county, which has a population of 9 million people, has been the largest vegetable exporter of Jiangsu province for five years. The Chinese Inspection and Quarantine Services has cooperated with local authorities to increase food safety by monitoring the use of seeds, pesticides and fertilisers. Its main export products are broccoli, green peas and greater burdock.
