China: Recovery of vegetable trade after Typhoon Soudelor

Typhoon Soudelor destroyed 1820 hectare of vegetable fields in Fujian province last month, worth an estimated 108 million Yuan. Now vegetable fields near Fuzhou, the capital city, are recovering. Average trading volume on the local market increased 8% last week and 28 of the 45 different vegetables sold on the local market have increased in price and volume. Prices of Chinese cabbage, paksoi and water spinach have increased the most with between 10% and 30% respectively. Prices now are expected to remain stable.
