Dofra Foodtec will continue under the name FTNON-Dofra

Machine producer FTNON buys product portfolio Dofra Foodtec

Machine producer Food Technology Noord-Oost Nederland (FTNON) is taking over the the product portfolio of Dofra Foodtec, a machine builder in the agrarian and food sector. With the takeover FTNON is gaining the know how to serve both its national and international customers.

FTNON, which is part of participation company Active Capital Company, is a worldwide producer of machines in the food industry. Dofra Foodtec produces machines for specific food products, such as onion peeling machines and pepper core remover. "Dofra Foodtec has put itself on the map well in recent years. With the knowledge they have, we want to expand our portfolio and extend the organisation both nationally and internationally," says André van der Wei, director of FTNON. Earlier this year FTNON took over Lacquey, a Delft robot developer specialised in the food sector.

Takeover of activities
Only the immaterial part of business will be taken over by FTNON. "The shares and the product location of Dofra will remain in the hands of the current shareholder," says Van der Wei. "The location will be invested in in coming years, and it is expected that the company will continue to grow." Both the development and the production of the machines will remain with the location in Horst. Not just the machines, but also the matching control cabinets and software are developed and produced internally. "We have obtained a huge amount of knowledge with the takeover. We can also optimise the products and fully tune into the demands of the customers," says Van der Wei.

FTNON started building machines for the food industry over 50 years ago. They were mainly active in the local market to start with, but in the last 30 years have grown out to be an international company with locations in America and China. FTNON is mainly active in the global fresh market and has also specialised in blanching and cooling processes. FTNON is a participation by investment company Active Capital Company, which mainly invests in Dutch (technical) production and trade businesses and actively guides these companies in the development and realisation of their strategy.

Dofra Foodtec has been active as a machine builder in the agrarian and food sector since 1959. The business is a specialist in the production and sales of machines for processing peppers, mushrooms, onions, potatoes, leafy vegetables, carrots, citrus fruits and pickles. Throughout the years Dofra Foodtec has realised successful projects in the agrarian sector and food processing industry. Their buyers include both a small business who produce for the local market and a business who sell their products globally.
