Thai durian and Vietnamese luffa stopped at Hong Kong border

The Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety (CFS) has announced that there were two durian samples imported from Thailand and one luffa sample imported from Vietnam that contained too many pesticides residues. The two durian samples contained respectively 60% and 80% more of the pesticide Ethephon than allowed. The CFS is going to take up the problem with the Thai government. The luffa from Vietnam contained twice as much Chlorpyrifos as allowed. Since the new CFS regulations have become effective more than 34,900 samples have been tested. In total 114 samples did not pass the quality tests, less than 0.4% of the total.
