The country has a trade window were it can cover the lower supply of Hass avocados going to the European Union between December and March and that's when we obtain the best prices, said Miguel Cordano, general manager of Sierra Exportadora.
"We have to take advantage of this because of the favorable conditions we have, such as temperature, humidity and lower incidence of pests and diseases. In addition, we have a production of organic Hass Avocado, so there is a great investment opportunity in the mountains," he stressed.

He explained that, via its service platform, Sierra Exportadora supported investors to locate production locations in the three economic corridors in the North, Center and South of the country and to locate producers, since this body brings them together.
"This can allow them to exploit the productive potential of up to 16,000 hectares for cultivation of avocado in the mountains and 18,000 kilograms of yield per hectare," he said.
He added that the strategies of Sierra Exportadora to improve the quality of Hass Avocado promotes the improvement of production processes by validating knowledge and experiences, and that producers are opting for the conversion and increase of the area of the Hass Avocado variety.
He also said that they also promoted the association of producers of this variety of avocado so that it could improve its negotiating position, economies of scale, and relationship with packing plants to meet quality formats.
"We also provide training in good agricultural practices," he added.
