Large area of Taiwanese cherimoya planted in Zhanjiang

Taiwanese cherimoya is a high-end exotic product on the Chinese market, renowned for its high quality and sweet taste. Most cherimoya are imported, as cultivation requires big technological and capital investments. An orchard in Zhanjiang, in the South of China, has recently invested in 55 ha of cherimoya trees. It is now the largest orchard in China that produces Taiwanese cherimoya. The owner of the orchard started to experiment growing pineapples back in 2014, when he bought 20,000 samples which he planted on 33 ha. This year he expanded the orchard with 20 ha. Cherimoya trees bear fruit after two years. The fruit can be harvested twice a year. A tree can bear more than a 100 kg of fruit.
