Fangcheng port new Chinese hub for fruit import

Fangcheng port, at the South coast of China, is a newly opened and fast growing import hub for fresh fruit and vegetables. This year, for the first time, 3,600 tons of fruit from Thailand and Vietnam have entered China through Fangcheng port. The port has a good overland connection with Guangxi, the third largest import city in China. In 2014, Guangxi imported 716,000 tons of fruit with an estimated value of $360,000,000.

The port is working hard to improve its phytosanitary control systems and speed up internal movement of goods. Currently Fangcheng supports 20 container lines, of which 17 are cater for international arrivals. Since the 22nd of June, when the first imported fruit arrived, 3,619,67 tons of fresh produce with a value of $1,991,100 have passed through the port. Meanwhile, 18 import companies are waiting for inspection and approval by the Inspection and Quarantine Services Department.
