The Association of Exporters (ADEX) stated that, between January and July 2015, mango exports amounted to $151.1 million dollars, 25.8% more than in the same period of the previous year.
The exporter guild attributed the surplus to the increased demand generated by the markets of the European Union and the United States.
Demanding markets
According to figures from the Business Intelligence System, the Netherlands led imports with purchases for $61.8 million dollars in the first seven months of the year, 38.1% more than in the previous year and 40.9% of total Peruvian mango shipments abroad.
Following the Netherlands is the US with purchases worth $44.9 million dollars (+14.4% compared to January-July 2014) and the United Kingdom with $15.9 million dollars (+43.6%), accounting for 29.7% and 10.5% of total international shipments, respectively.
Other markets were Spain, France, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, Chile, Belgium, New Zealand, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Colombia, United Arab Emirates, Austria, among others.
Exporting companies
Mango shipments between January and July 2015 were mainly promoted by Dominus SAC, Camposol SA, Sunshine Export SAC, Frutos Tropicales del Norte SA, FLP del Peru SAC, and Frutas Piuranas SAC, among others.
Additional Data
The main mango growing areas are mainly in Piura, in the areas of Malingas, Hualtaco, Yuscay, Pedregal, Valle Los Incas, La Pola, Sullana, La Noria, Yapatera, and Batanes.
