75% of vegetable juice sold is organic

Swiss retailers generated 8 million CHF (8.20 million USD) with the sales of vegetable juice in 2014, and 75% of the turnover came from organic juice. An explanation for the large proportion of organic juice is the healthy image of juice, just like all organic products.

Below chart in German:

About a third of the vegetable juice sales, 2.5 million CHF, is due to the sales of tomato juice. And multi vegetable juice (with 1.1 million CHF, 13%) and beetroot juice (0.9 million CHF, 11%) have large shares in the sales too. The proportion of organic juice is clearly less with fruit juice. The proportion of organic juice without apple juice is 10%. And 16% of apple juice and sparkling apple juice is organic. The total turnover of fruit juice in the Swiss retail in 2014 resulted in 362 million CHF (371 million USD).

Orange juice with 97 million CHF is responsible for the largest share of the revenue with a total of 27%. And another loved product is multi fruit juice, with 20% (73 million CHF) of the sales. Apple juice and sparkling apple juice are only fourth in the list with a share of 15% and 54 million CHF. Direct sales at farms are responsible for a very small part of the sales.
