Fairtrade International announced in their annual report that 439,000 metric tons of Fairtrade bananas were sold in the season 14/15. According to the organization in Bonn an increase in sales of 18 percent.
Farmers and their employees profit from the global trade in Fair products. They could invest 105 million Euro in their companies and social projects, an increase of 14 percent compared to last year. And last year customers worldwide spend 5.9 billion Euro on products with the Fairtrade label. The German consumers were responsible for 827 million Euro. This helped to create a more stable market according to Fairtrade International.
