Slight price increase for French nectarines and peaches

Stonefruit availability dropping

The summer fruit season is expiring. With the dropping temperatures, availability of stonefruit on the wholesale markets is decreasing. “The apricot season is done,” Peter Schenk, CEO of Matthäus Schenk OHG on the Munich wholesale market, explains. “Currently, nectarines and peaches from France and Italy are still available.”

The wholesale trader is satisfied
Despite the limited availability, the demand for stonefruit is still good, the wholesale trader explains. Peter Schenk acquires many of his products directly from the producers. “The quality of the available stonefruit is also good at the moment,” says the expert.” With regards to price, the current situation is also good, the wholesale trader explains. “Price-wise, we are right on track for thIS time of year,” Schenk advises.

Prices
From the current BLE market report we can gather that the average prices for yellow-fleshed French nectarines in the 35th calendar week are moving between 2.24 Euro and 2.64 Euro per kilo, depending on size. For French peaches between 2.07 Euro 2.54 Euro per kilo are being charged on average. With both products, a price increase can be noticed compared to last week. Italian products were placed more favourably. The maximum price in the 35th calendar week was circa 1.27 Euro per kilo.




New products from France, Germany and Italy
“In the coming weeks we are counting on various walnuts, grapes and chestnuts from France,” CEO Peter Schenk reports. “In Germany, the harvest of new pears and apples will continue. From Italy, new pears will arrive again too, as well as many grapes.
