Camposol largest exporter Hass to China

After signing the Protocol of Phytosanitary Requirements with the People’s Republic of China, which opens the Asian market to new Peruvian agricultural products, Camposol will become the largest exporter of Hass avocado to this country.

This important opening took place after Peru supplemented the information requested by the Chinese authority AQSIQ (General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine), which then authorized the shipment of first containers to their country.

AQSIQ representatives visited the country estates Frusol I, Frusol II, Mar Verde, Agromás and Yakuy Minka, property of Camposol, to supervise the phytosanitary processes used during Hass avocado production. These country estates are certified by the National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA, in Spanish), which is essential for exporting products.

The first container of avocados for the Asian country was shipped on August 17, and further shipments will follow during the forthcoming weeks, which will represent an important achievement for the national agroindustry.

The avocado production of Camposol creates direct jobs for more than 1,300 people, who work on field and at plant.

During the season 2014, Camposol became the private company with the largest export volume of Hass avocados in the world. The company sold a total of 38,000 tons of avocados. For 2015 the company forecasts an exportation volume smaller than in 2014, as adult country estates are, due to the alternation effect, in an off-year.

The avocado crop surface in Peru is estimated in more than 22,000 hectares and, therefore, Camposol participates with 11 percent of the total surface.
