Peru: Regional food exports amount to 1.807 billion in 2015

The Association of Exporters (Adex) stated that regional food exports, not including Lima and Callao, amounted to 1.807 billion dollars in the first half of 2015, 0.8 percent more than in the same period of 2014.

According to figures from the Adex Data Trade Business Intelligence System, the region's food basket in the first half consisted of grapes, mangoes, avocados, asparagus, squid, bananas, scallops, queues shrimp, frozen fish, cocoa beans, artichokes, and mandarins, among others.

The main markets were the United States (US $513.3 million), the Netherlands ($235.4 million), Spain, China, Ecuador, UK, France, Hong Kong, Germany, Korea, Italy, Japan, Chile, Canada, Belgium, and Brazil, among others, for a total of 98 destinations.

To enhance and promote these shipments and each region's offer, they said, agricultural and fishing companies will participate as exhibitors in the seventh edition of the Expoalimentaria fair.

This year, the fair takes place on an area of 23,220 square meters and it will include the offer from Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cusco, Apurimac, Puno, Ica, San Martin, Ucayali, Cajamarca, Huancavelica, Huanuco, Junin, Loreto, Pasco, and Puno, amongst others.

Piura will be presenting its fishing and agricultural offer. Some companies from Piura that will be displaying their products at the fair include Campos del Norte SRL, Seafrost SAC, Certipez EIRL, Vital SAC, Corporacion de Alimentos SAC, Peruglo Export Import SAC, SAC EcoacuĂ­cola, among others.

Several companies from the north, from Lambayeque and La Libertad, will be presenting their variety of fruits and vegetables, both fresh and processed.

Some of the companies from Lambayeque include Frutos Tropicales SAC, Agromana SAC, San Roque SA, Quicornac SAC, Solemne SAC; and some of the companies from La Libertad are Camposol SA, Sociedad Agricola Viru SA, and Agribusiness La Morina SA.

The region of Arequipa, the south of the country, will be represented by Berries del Peru SAC, Emaran, the Autonomous Authority of Majes, Deripalta Majes SAC, Frutiroig, and Agrounimex SA, among others.

The mountainous zone of the country will be represented by Ayacucho via the Association of Quinoa Producers and Andean Grains of Ayacucho (Apoqua), Inka Health, the Agrarian Coffee Cooperative "Valle del Rio Apurimac " Ltd., and others. San Martin, via the Aquaculture Los Paiches SAC, Shanantina SAC, and other companies, will represent the forest area of the country.
