J&J Family of Farms hires Director of Farming

J&J Family of Farms has recently hired Richard (“Dick”) Bowman to fill the newly created position of Director of Farming. In his new position, Bowman will facilitate improved communication and coordinate production plans across multiple farming operations to meet the growing demand for high quality, year-round production.

Bowman comes to J&J with an extensive background in farm operations including past experience that includes his role as owner of Harvest Time LLC, Harvest Time Market, Beefy Trees (TreeFarm), Bowman Growers and Good Fortune Farm. Bowman also brings key experience in managing agricultural and real estate issues, having served in multiple leadership positions in South Florida, including his roles as Director of Palm Beach County Zoning Commission, Director of the Florida State Fair Authority, and Vice President of Palm Beach County Farm Bureau. Bowman is a lifelong resident of Florida, having grown up on the “Smith Sundy” farm in Delray Beach.

Lynn Rundle, Chairman of the Board for J&J Family of Farms remarked, “Dick’s background in both agriculture and real estate makes him perfect for this new role as we continue to grow and scale our farming operations.” Rundle continued, “His professionalism, communication skills and attention to detail are some of the important strengths he brings to J&J, but it’s his hands on experience in farming operations that will allow him to collaborate with farm managers for our continued success.”

As part of strategic expansion plans and growing customer demands, J&J has actively developed new farming partnerships and growing relationships to expand their total production and offer more year-round availability of their core products including bell peppers and squash.
When asked about his new position Bowman commented, “I am looking forward to working with J&J’s team of professional farmers as we continue to expand our operations and sharpen our focus to not only meet, but exceed the needs of our growing customer base. It’s an exciting time to be in agriculture, particularly with a company like J&J that values the farming operations that help them thrive.”

Bowman received his agricultural education from the University of Tennessee-Martin. Today he continues to live on the family farm in Delray Beach, Florida with his wife and two daughters.
