BLE market report CW 32/15

Lemon shortage in German wholesale markets

Lemons
The market was scarcely supplied with dominating products from Spain and supplementing from Argentina. Uruguay occasionally rounded off the product palette with small shipments. The prices consistently rose. Only in Hamburg did Argentinian Eureka arrive in substantial volume.

Apples
The offer of early kinds obviously broadened. With unexcited demand and extended supply, stipulations predominantly needed to be reduced.

Pears
Spanish and French Dr Jules Guyot as well as Italian Santa Maria characterize the business. Sales went smoothly. Supply and accommodation remained congruent, and thus the current ratings were maintained.

Table grapes
The marketing of European products gained in importance. The summery weather had indeed forced demand, but surpluses from the previous week regularly urged to reduce stipulations.

Strawberries
Supply was somewhat limited at the start, and that secured a significant price level. Then temperatures rose. Subsequently, the orders intensified in a framework which enabled estimates to spiral up once again.

Cherries
The inflow reduced. The only prices that obviously rose were those of products that managed to score with their organoleptic advantages and were of at least a 28 mm calibre.

Peaches and nectarines
As a consequence of lush supply, price reductions were the trend, which especially concerned the Italian batches. Spanish batches sometimes got more expensive, depending on their origin. French produce commonly remain fairly steady.

Plums
The market was in the hands of German products. Because availability has expanded, a pressure to sell gradually built up. This could only be met with discounts, which protract over the week in small gradings.

Kiwis
The import of the dominant supplies from New Zeeland were generally sufficiently adjusted to meet demand. Listings normally remained on a steady level.

Bananas
Supply and demand predominantly harmonized. The mostly stable listings are based on this fact.

Cauliflower
On one hand, a manageable supply ensured a relatively stable price, on the other hand, limited deliveries caused price increases.

Lettuce
With iceberg lettuce, business is mostly dealt with domestic supplies. As usual, availability reduced so much, that price increases resulted; regardless of the fact that the flow of goods was not always satisfactory.

Cucumbers
The supply often turned out manageable. This kept prices continuously up: however they partially went down gradually to a moderate level, at the latest from the middle of the week onward.

Tomatoes
Availability reduced. With friendly interest, estimations were raised at the start of the 32nd calendar week. After the next step-by-step increases, from Friday onward they made another jump upwards.

Capsicum
Availability continuously did not turn out too lushly. Synchronous to this, there was a predominantly friendly interest. With this, the price trend is virtually a given: it is principally rising, frequently even noticeably.

Onions
With adequate supply and clearing, the listings of onions remain at their previous level, they only rarely dropped. Occasionally tightening of prices did not continue in the long term.
