Quantity reduction around 4%

Austrian winter apple harvest turns out somewhat smaller

As aiz.info informsus, the Austrian winter apple harvest in the retail-fruit facilities is estimatedto be somewhat smaller than last year. Experts expect that the quantity will drop by 4% to 217,000 tonnes. With179,200 tonnes, the largest part by far comes from Styria. This shows from thepublished harvest estimate of Statistik Austria. The actual quantity can stillbe influenced by the precipitation conditions of the coming weeks. A largedrought period would affect the size of the fruits.

The harvest of winterpears this year is estimated to be 5% larger than last year,with just under 5,800 tonnes. Of this, almost 3,300 tonnes is picked in Styria,and just under 2,000 tonnes in Lower Austria.
