A new pilot projecthas started at Munich airport. An innovative shopping service suppliespassengers with fresh foodstuffs upon arrival.
As of now, passengerscan purchase fresh foodstuffs at the baggage claim area in Terminal 2, and takethem home. A reservation takes place online on a total of seven tablets, which standready for the travellers between the luggage conveyor belts. Passengers cancurrently pick from seven different menus for cooking or direct consumptionwhile they wait for their luggage. The fresh foodstuffs can then be picked upat the cooled station “ emmasbox” at the southern entrance on Level 4 or Level3. Foodstuff retailer Edeka is the collaboration partner of the project, which isto run until the end of November for the time being. They also fill the boxes.The menu of choice is paid by EC- or credit card upon pick-up.
The idea for the stationfor fresh foodstuffs “emmasbox” originates in the Münchner Start-Up Unternehmenopen ideas GmbH, and the project is developed together with the innovation teamof Munich Airport.
The product range of “emmasbox” currently consists of seven different food packages, put togetherwith the help of Edeka’s long-standing retail experience. Among the choices arefor example a menu “Italiano” withpasta, sauce, salad and fresh tomatoes, a hearty Bavarian menu with liverdumpling soup and bratwurst with sauerkraut and bread, but also a snack-packwith munchies for a relaxed evening in front of the television.
