Aweta develop new grading system for pears

An in depth study and a long test period, carried out by Aweta customers in Holland and Chile, brought a grading system, with "wet" feed, new infeed singulator, grader and packing stations that can satisfy all the wishes and demands that users of a grading system may have.

The core of the system is the new grader singulator that rotates the pears below the quality sensors allowing a perfect selection, and the meticulous manner with which the Cup grader handles the product contributes the product reaching the market in excellent condition.

The Cup grader is specially made for grading fragile fruits such as pears.

There is a growing demand for external and internal quality. External aspects are the main components in the decision to purchase. Internal quality (texture, taste and absence of internal defects) is linked to aspects that are not generally perceived externally but are equally important to many consumers.

Packing houses use their knowledge and sensor technology to produce a more consistent product quality which will improve its marketing and sales.

Internal Quality Sensor: InScan-IQ

Inscan is a patented sensor for measuring non- destructive internal characteristics which determine the quality of the pears. The Inscan sensor detects on each product passing the sensor important internal quality characteristics like sweetness [%Brix] ,s, maturity / firmness, internal browning, core rot, hollow pears.

Aweta PowerVision 3D:

Power Vision 3D is the new generation of Aweta pears defect sorting.

A highly sophisticated camera system combines images taken from different angles to create a full 3D image.

PowerVision 3D uses high definition digital cameras and LED technology to detect any given parameter of imperfection, eliminating the subjective opinion of the human eye. This will result in a more accurate and consistent grading standard.

PowerVision 3D is delivered with standard templates for most common varieties. It can easily be trained more specifically by means of neural networks. PowerVision 3D can sort into different quality classes by the type of defect that is detected. Information about the sorted fruits is graphically displayed and helps the operator to control the sorting quality using the sophisticated PowerVision 3D technology that hides behind the user friendly interface.

In the next MACFRUT 2015, Aweta will present the new PowerVision 3D Hyperspectral and the Inscan-IQ and demonstration will take place during the fair.
