US(CA): Decent nectarine prices this season

“This year, nectarine supply is about normal for us,” says Jeff Simonian with Simonian Fruit Company. “We had a rain storm last week, which is uncommon for this time of the year, and we lost some production. So, all in all volumes are down a little bit.”

“Prices have been good and increased a bit due to lighter supplies,” added Simonian. They range anywhere from $14 to the low $20s. “I expect prices to stay steady until the end of the harvest season, which is in about four to six weeks.” Prices are comparable to last season, but are higher than the five-year average.

Due to the early start, nectarine harvest is expected to finish around the 1st of September while a typical season doesn’t wind down until mid to late September.
