Transporter Milestone Fresh has further extended the activities at its airfreight office in Hoofddorp. "And it's proven to be a good choice, because we've had a flying start," says Henk Duijn. "At the moment we're mainly active in the airfreight of flowers and plants, but we've had our first vegetable sector customers sign up too."

Henk has 25 years of experience in transport, in the area of so-called perishables. He worked with a global player for the last few years, but noticed that many of his customers weren't satisfied with the service offered. "At Milestone Fresh BV professional skills and service are priorities and the people are always prepared to go the 'extra mile'."
"As a smaller agent we don't have the purchasing power of a global network transporter, so we have to fight hard for our margins. The price is obviously a very important tool, but knowledge of the market and the customers so that the needs of the customer can be satisfied are even more important. A customer doesn't just get airfreight from Milestone Fresh, they also get a bit of peace. The shipments are followed step by step and the customers are kept updated as much as possible."

The customers in this branch are also very enthusiastic about our new airfreight activities. Milestone Fresh BV is active in all parts of the world but certain destinations are really up and coming. There are now flowers going to destinations by airfreight that many people had never heard of a few years ago. In our own customs warehouse in Hoofddorp we recently had a 100 m2 cooling cell placed. Our checking location has also been extended so we can carry out the phytosanitary check on location of flowers, plants and vegetables for both import and export. We can serve the customer in the area of import, export and transit and are therefore ready for the future. Where we'll be in five years? Quality wise I want to be in first place, after which the volumes will follow."
