Oranfrizer managed to achieve this result on the UK market thanks to a careful selection of clones and batches, so as to guarantee a good quality product that maintains the colour up to the last delivery. This year, oranges were supplied until late April despite unforeseeable microclimate conditions.
The high temperatures until November and December delayed the pigmentation of Moro oranges and the bad weather in late February meant the sorting of Tarocco premium was quite difficult.
Foreign retailers expected high quality standards during the entire season and Oranfrizer managed to achieve that. The complex need and trust of Marks & Spencer's were repayed with a product of constant high quality.
Tarocco Ippolito changes exports
Starting from January, the introduction of Tarocco Ippolito made a real difference - it is a new clone that was much appreciated by northern European customers thanks to its appearance and taste. British retailers immediately realised the potential of Tarocco oranges with respect to other varieties, so much so that the appreciation for this variety changed export times and positioning on the shelves in the UK. In addition, it made it possible to extend the campaign from January to May.
