Italy: Sun Black tomatoes finally available in supermarkets

Sun Black tomatoes are finally available in supermarkets thanks to an exclusive one-year agreement with Unicoop Firenze. The produce is sold both loose and in punnets and is presented in special crates.

The variety was developed five years ago thanks to a cooperation between prestigious Italian universities and is sold by wholesaler Nature Service. Owner Vincenzo Summo told FreshPlaza that "we are happy about volumes. The packaging we used aims at making the the product stand out and was designed by the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa ".

Other exclusive partners of the Sun Black programme are L'Ortofruttifero (Pisa - for plant multiplication) and l'Azienda agricola Vella Raffaele (Syracuse- for cultivation).
