High brix for French yellow Charentais

The French melon season started and also has yellow Charentais melons available. The production of the yellow Charentais this year is looking positive on all sites. "The hot weather has been favourable, but we also measure brix levels between 13-15," explains Audrey Brizard from Soldive.

The company has a slightly higher volume than last year with small and big calibres. "The hot weather also caused the harvest to start earlier than last year," she mentioned. The season for French Charentais will last till the end of September.

With the end of the Spanish Charentais, it looks positive for the yellow Charentais from France. "We will mainly sell in the domestic market, but there is enough for the export as well," Audrey concludes. The company is growing their melons in France on 4 production sites: Brie, Chinon, Royan and Montpellier.
