Berlin Wholesale Market introduces energy management system

The Berliner Großmarkt (BGM) plans the introduction of a comprehensive energy management system to provide the companies on the terrain of the BMG with a tool to handle their energy demands efficiently and economically.
The Energy Company Berlin (BEA) supports the BMG and gives advice as a part of the EU project goEco.

The main focus of the project goEco is to provide integrated energy concepts that have been tested and improved. Through this process the introduction of a comprehensive energy management system (EnMS) was identified as particularly worthwhile for the BMG.

Control the energy demand efficiently
The energy management system helps the companies on the 330,000 square meter large area to control their energy demand efficiently. The first step is to modernize the measuring devices for power, water, and heat so that they can be centrally recorded and read.
Andreas Foidl the manager of the Berliner Großmarkts is convinced that the introduction of the energy management system supports the objectives of the BGM.
“We will develop Berliner Großmarkt with the help of BEA to a sustainable wholesale market. And try to prevent peaks in the energy consumption. We will offer suggestions on how to work with sustainable energy."

A pioneer in the industry
Michael Geißler, manager of the BEA, praises the commitment of the Berlin market: “With the introduction of the energy management system the BGM takes a leading role in the implementation of energy efficiency and energy saving measures. We are happy as a strategic partner to support the BEA to take on this role.”
